I've been lucky enough to be part of hundreds of weddings, but Silvia and Evan's was one of the most magical ones I've ever had the pleasure of working on. I remember first meeting Silvia and how excited we both were when I learned the theme was "starry night"!! I think I might have even offered to pay them to let me shoot such a dream theme! The Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg was the perfect venue for their spring wedding, and the theme shone beautifully as a nod to the couple's shared love of astronomy.
I was thrilled when they first approached me to design their wedding stationery as well, and I poured my heart into creating a celestial-themed seating chart, table cards, menus, and invitations. I'm always excited to work with couples who have a unique vision for their wedding day, and Silvia and Evan's love for the night sky gave me the chance to get creative with the design.
The couple's church wedding was a beautiful affair, and afterward, we headed to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to take some photos. The CMHR is a fantastic location for photos, with its striking architecture and incredible, diverse lighting. We were able to capture some stunning shots of the couple against the museum's glass walls, with the light filtering through the intricate structure, as well as some creative shots with flash and colour.
Afterward, it was time for the reception at the Fort Garry Hotel, and the space was transformed into a starry wonderland. The décor matched the theme perfectly, with sparkling lights and starry accents throughout the room. The highlight was undoubtedly the illuminated starry dance floor, which was the perfect place for the couple's first dance.
The food was fantastic, and the guests were entertained throughout the evening with speeches, dancing, and music. One magical moment was when we took Silvia and Evan outside to capture some nighttime photos. We ignited a blue smoke bomb, which created a stunning visual effect that perfectly matched the starry night theme.
In the end, it was an unforgettable wedding. Silvia and Evan's love of the night sky gave us the chance to create a truly unique and magical day, and I'm so grateful and honoured to have been a part of it.
