What a way to end 2019! Melissa and Miguel were married on such a cold day; New Year’s Eve is notorious for positively Arctic temperatures, and this one was no exception! A festive feeling was still dancing through the air a week after Christmas, and Fort Gibraltar was the perfect spot for this couple to exchange vows.
Miguel and Melissa met online, and apparently he “chased her around for a week” after picking up her engagement ring, asking her to marry him, but finally got down on one knee the morning they got the keys to their first house.
The entire wedding party was comprised of their nieces and nephews – 12 kids in total, ranging from age two to age sixteen! Everyone was a massive trooper despite being absolutely freezing (and competing with another wedding taking place on the property at the same time! I wish I could remember the song blaring up through the floor during the ceremony… whatever it was, it was hilarious.)
There were only around thirty guests, which was intimate and cozy (and allowed me to get to know everybody so much better), and was perfect for Melissa’s vision of one big family celebration. Her decor was rustic and romantic, with the rafters decked out in tulle and twinkle lights. There was a beautiful winter sunset that afternoon, and I’m so happy the couple let me take them outside in the snow for a couple of photos under it 🙂
